Wanna be a winemaker?

A casting call is going out for a new Reality TV show on PBS. They are looking for people who want to be winemakers, and who are not currently employed in the industry. It looks like they’ll pick 6 people and the casting call in San Francisco will be on May 2. According to sfgate,
The show will be set in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo. There, the candidates will experience every aspect of winemaking from viticulture and enology to sales and marketing.

I don’t think that being on such a show will give you instant clout in the industry and make you automatically employable, but it sounds like you’ll get quite a bit of experience and exposure. I’m probably just wary of Reality TV in general, however. My lovely wife Candace was on an MTV reality show at UC Davis when we met. College life just after turning 21 is generally regarded as something best left undocumented, but my wife was undaunted. During her 15 minutes she became best known for coining the memorable phrases “Make it a double, sweetie” and, to our mutually unending delight, “I get drunk and I kiss boys”. Silly sorority girls and their silly cocktails.
Happily, after Sorority Life ended we began dating, eventually taming each other. So some good can come from the reality tv madness.
Anyway, get out there and apply (I’m looking at you Bill). Who knows what could happen.

Thanks for the heads-up on the winemaking opportunity. I, too, have a bit of an aversion to reality tv shows, but hey, this is PBS we’re talking about. Given that fact, how bad could it be? Even better, I grew up in the Paso Robles/San Luis Obispo area so I’m very familiar with the area – and wineries! If I make the cut, I promise you a shameless plug for Capozzi.

hey, great site. it’s being advertised on my site through Google Ads, so that’s how i found you. I’ve often wondered how much hard work it takes for one to become a wine maker. my grandfather used to make his own in Romania and i remember him slaving away at the vines. by the way, who is Candace? i’m new here.
