Michael Arrington over at TechCrunch reports on a new web 2.0 startup called SuperOyster that will allow people to market and sell their spots in line on waiting lists.
I think a service like this will do great business, and it has very provacative implications for cult/boutique wineries. While we can’t count on our pinot being so highly allocated that our customers will need to use the service (but we can hope!), I know some people right now would pay a pretty penny to get on the Rochioli mailing list (~3 year wait), or to be able to get some of the lower production vineyard designates coming out of Kistler.
And, given their clean sweep of the Re-judgement of Paris today, our cult cab producing friends across the Mayacamas are sure to see a spike in interest. Congrats again Napa! (Hat tip: Alder)
So, how much would you pay to get on the Screaming Eagle mailing list?

Thanks for the great feedback. This is Matt, the founder of Superoyster and a big wine lover too. As you’d probably expect, we’ve found a few wineries who are receptive to this idea, so you may actually get your wish sometime soon.
Keep your eyes on our website and you’ll soon see more creative applications of this great service.
