Due to our small size, we think that it will be possible to actually get to know many of you. Besides meeting you in person at a tasting or event, we are always brainstorming others ways to connect and involve the great people we’re sure to meet as we venture into selling our wines. One thing we came up with was to offer row owners the opportunity the come and help pick grapes and aid in the crush.
Another cool thing we want to do with our mailing list customers is to offer you preferred reservations at our fly fishing/recreation ranch up at Hat Creek. We don’t have any wine for sale quite yet, but it is fishing season, and the ranch is open and taking reservations.
There are plenty of openings in July and August left, so if you are an angler and live or expect to be in Northern CA this summer give The Fly Shop in Redding a call at 800-669-FISH or check out the web page here for rates and other information.
Candace and I stopped up in Hat Creek this past weekend to clean up the cabin in between renters after attending a wedding in Redding. Redding was hotter than the Devil’s armpit topping out at 115, and the wedding was outdoors with no tent, so we were a little fried coming up the hill. But when we got to the ranch it was a wonderful 80-85 degrees, and the taste of the water up there is so pure and clean, you can’t help but be rejuvenated. I always try and take a couple gallons of the water back home with me.
Life on the ranch is great this time of year and the views of both Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta are spectacular. If you do go, be sure to check in on the two new foals, Mocha and Maggie. Their moms are protective but you can ply them with some alfalfa to get to the babies.
