Who Are We?

About Us

Pinotblogger is a blog about the birth of Capozzi Family Winery in the Russian River Valley. The guy behind the keyboard is Josh Hermsmeyer. My wife Candace, my son Jackson and I are pictured below.

Now for my bio. Feel free to skip if you are so inclined. :-p

Bio

Josh Hermsmeyer is a father and, on the side, he moonlights as Generalissimo of Capozzi Winery. Josh is also a recognized expert on social media marketing for wineries. He’s been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Wine & Spirits, Wines and Vines, The Press Democrat, North Bay Biz and Fast Company Now. He has taught on wine marketing and social media at UC Davis, helps teach a yearly class at Sonoma State University, and has given talks at The Wine Industry Technology Symposium, The Mendocino Winegrape Commission, and Women for Wine Sense.

Josh has written for Wines and Vines and co-authored a chapter on direct-to-consumer marketing and Wine 2.0 for Professor Liz Thach’s Wine: A Global Business, the authoritative academic text on the wine industry. He served on the Sonoma County Wine Library Associates Board of Directors from 2007-2008, and was elected President for the 2008 year.

Josh is also a data analysis junkie and code hacker. He created a Mac desktop and sync-able iPhone app for wine production and information management. Called Juice, it was subsequently featured in the Press Democrat. He developed Rotobase, an elegant and sophisticated sabermetric and fantasy baseball research site. Josh also compiled a MLB injury database which has been featured on ESPN.com, Tom Tango’s blog, is aiding in research by sports economists at leading universities, and will soon be the source of an infographic in ESPN The Magazine.

Josh trained at UC Davis where he studied Economics and Winemaking. It was there he met and was swept off his feet by his lovely wife Candace, who was once famous for 10 minutes as a star on MTV’s Sorority Life.

Rebecca’s Vineyard, the future source of the grapes for Capozzi Winery, is located at 2849 Laguna Rd. Santa Rosa, CA 95401. (707) 696-6669.
